Position Details Position #: 9008617 Expected Start Date: Open Until Filled Union: SUN Facility: SHA-Agency INH-Communicable Disease City/Town: Melfort or Nipawin or Tisdale Department: Communicable Disease Type: Full-time regular FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days, Weekends Hours of Work: 28 shifts of 8 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: No Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse B $42.040 to $52.440 Travel Required: Yes Job Description The Communicable Disease Control Public Health Nurse works under the direction of the designated Manager or supervisor and is a delegate of the local Medical Health Officer(s) and is accountable for the coordination of public health activities to control and prevent communicable diseases, including surveillance and reporting responsibilities, as outlined in The Public Health Officers Regulations, in addition to The Public Health Act, 1994 and The Disease Control Regulations and Saskatchewan Health directives and policies and other applicable federal legislation. They will coordinate the prevention, planning, and implementation of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) services within the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The CDC PHN conducts investigations and the related follow up of reportable and non-reportable communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted diseases, on a day-to-day basis working collaboratively with many internal and external health care professionals/agencies. Human Resources Exemption No Experience Minimum of two (2) years recent relevant experience in public health nursing Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Course credits in community health and public health nursing are required Competencies Advanced skills in program planning and evaluation Decision making skills Leadership skills Knowledge and Abilities Highly developed written and oral communication skills Knowledge in population health promotion approaches and community development Utilize epidemiological models to explain disease patterns in community health Knowledge of communicable disease control practices and procedures Knowledge of research and statistical collection concepts Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing workload Other Information Ability to travel when required Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) Valid Class 5 driver's license Education in infectious diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, is an asset Job description under review Home Base will be Melfort Primary Care Center or TBD based on candidate preference and space availability #J-18808-Ljbffr
