Expected Hours: Full-time hours (1.0 FTE) Estimated Annual Salary: To Be Determined Zone: Central Zone Type of Remuneration: Daily Rate Incentive Programs Available: Yes Company Description Hants Community Hospital (HCH) in Windsor, Nova Scotia is seeking hospitalists to join their team. The majority of patients within this hospital are rostered to our team of Hospitalists. Hants Hospital is an acute care hospital with a 24hour 10 bed Emergency Department. HCH has 26 inpatient beds and 14 transitionalcare beds with plans for further acute care expansion. The facility offers many outpatient services, outreach programs, and medical diagnostics and also has an extensive sameday surgical program, including: General surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology and Orthopedics. Outpatient clinics include Pain clinic, Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, General Pediatrics, Mental Health, Hematology, Gynecology and General Surgery. Cardiac testing with EKG, Stress testing and Holter Monitoring as well as Respirology testing with spirometry are available. General Internal Medicine may in certain cases be available for inpatient consults, along with Respiratory therapy, Social Work, SLP/Dietician (swallowing assessments), Pharmacy, Palliative Care, Continuing Care, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Job Description Responsibilities Provide direct inpatient care for patients admitted to the Hants Hospitalist Service Provide a full range of clinical inpatient care, in keeping with the Canadian Society of Hospital Medicines Core Competencies in Hospital Medicine Most responsible physician (MRP) coverage for admitted patients, ensuring all laboratory, imaging consultation and other reports are received and reviewed daily Equitable participation in weekend and afterhours call coverage (with significant support/coverage from inhouse Emergency Physician colleagues) Participation in daily flow discussions Embrace the Home First Philosophy of NS Health in efficient discharge planning with focus on expected length of stay with patient/caregivers at time of admission Participate in Quality improvement, operational and research initiatives Demonstrate commitment to delivering the highest quality care and maintenance of competence Coordinate care with members of the interprofessional team for the provision of quality care, including regular interdisciplinary team rounds Attend sitebased physician meetings as outlined by the Central Zone Department Head of Hospital Medicine, and Site Hospitalist Lead(s) Expected Hours Locum, fulltime, or parttime Schedule is flexible (typical fulltime schedule is one week on/one week off) Participate in weekend day shifts proportional to weekday coverage Participate in afterhours work per site plan Active with admitting privileges at Central ZoneHants site via NSH Credentialing Committee All applicants must have uptodate ACLS certification Membership in the Society of Hospital Medicine, Canadian Chapter is encouraged Academic teaching appointment with Dalhousie University is an asset Additional Information Community Details A proud history, vibrant lifestyle and a bright future all combine to make picturesque Windsor a magnetic visitor destination and a delightful community in which to live and work.
