Hours of workFull-time (37.5 hrs/week)No. of positions1Closing dateFebruary 8, 2026About the jobJob Location: Edmonds A03Region: Lower MainlandFlexible Work Role: HybridWhat youll doAs a member of the Safety Incident Management and Regulatory Compliance team, the Senior Safety Advisor is focused on managing BC Hydros relationship with external safety regulators (most particularly, WorkSafeBC), being aware of and influencing changes to legislation and regulation, and ensuring BC Hydro safety programs and processes effectively reflect those requirements.Identify, assess implications, and create awareness of external legislation and regulation that applies to BC Hydro operations.Interpret the requirements of those regulations for effective application into BC Hydros workplace. Seeking clarity with regulators when required.Provide regulatory oversight and assistance to the development of safety programs.Advise, coach and support responsible management when required to respond to regulatory directives, orders, or penalties.Provide strategic safety regulatory expertise and work collaboratively within the safety and operations team to identify and resolve regulatory compliance issues.Provide expert advice and guidance to senior executive and business group management regarding compliance issues and strategies to ensure a safety, healthy and compliant workplace.What you bringEducational background at the Bachelors level related to Safety or relevant Engineering discipline, or a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with relevant industry experience.Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in an industrial environment with field experience.Strong understanding and interpretation of occupational health and safety legislation and regulation.Experience interacting with occupational health and safety regulators.Strong knowledge of engagement processes and techniques and ability to develop effective relationships with key decision makers, unions and regulatory agencies.Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills with the ability to influence without authority.Strong conceptual thinking, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.Experience in implementing field safety programs in large, complex organizations.Ability to plan, develop and manage safety strategies, programs and standards to meet BC Hydro objectives and business requirements.What we offerA minimum of 15 paid vacation daysFlexible work model, depending on your role typeTraining and development coursesFor more information on the benefits we offer, visit bchydro.com/benefits.What else you should knowThis is a full-time temporary opportunity for approximately 18 months.Please note a condition of employment for this role is to maintain your Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.Don't forget to update your Candidate Profile with your current resume and copies of your certifications.
