The Challenge Ahead As the Principal Mine Planning Mid Term, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of underground potash mining at Jansen. You will provide expert technical guidance in the design and optimization of underground mine designs and mediumterm mine plans, ensuring decisions support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Your work will directly influence operational readiness, value optimization, geotechnical compliance, and the execution capability of the minecontributing to one of BHPs most significant global growth projects. Key Responsibilities Deliver safe, geotechnically compliant underground mine designs aligned to jurisdictional guidelines and operational inputs. Develop and deliver mediumterm mine production plans aligned with business objectives and execution capabilities. Define and develop ranged production plans to assess uncertainties and material risks. Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a wide range of stakeholders. Estimate costs and define fleet and equipment needs in autonomous mining environments to achieve productivity targets. Apply structured problemsolving approaches to address complex challenges and evaluate multiple solutions. Prioritize work and resources to meet business objectives and operational timelines. What Youll Bring to the Role Technical diploma or degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent earth sciences field. Advanced competence in mine planning software and tools. Minimum 7+ years of experience in underground mine design and mine planning. Recommended Experience in potash mining (production, technical management, and/or project management). Experience in major capital studies or mining projects. Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills. Understanding of multidiscipline engineering and industry standards. Exposure to underground potash mine design, planning, and operations. Work Location This role is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with regular collaboration across the Jansen site and technical teams. The work schedule is Monday Friday, 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (shared work spaces and a blend of office and remote work) is standard at BHP. Travel to site may be required based on business needs.
