Job Summary The engineering supervisor manages a team of engineers, overseeing daily operations, task assignments, and ensuring quality work while providing technical support and mentorship. Job Title Supervisor, Engineering Responsibilities Oversees daily activities of engineering staff, ensuring tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards. Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost control measures are in place. Assign, train, develop, and supervise manufacturing engineers, student engineers, and outside vendors. Provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to succeed. Identify and implement process improvements and/or new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity. Assist in planning and coordination of new engineering analysis tools, such as CAD, CAD/CAM systems, CAT, and quotation sheets. Liaise with other departments (e.g., production, materials, QA) to coordinate activities and resolve issues. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems. Ensure that all manufacturing processes meet quality standards and comply with industry regulations and safety protocols. Stay current with industry trends and technologies to incorporate best practices into engineering processes. Set goals, evaluate performance, and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members. Monitor and enforce quality control processes to maintain high standards of work. Academic/Educational Requirements A bachelors degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical or industrial engineering, or equivalent. Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.). Required Skills/Experience 35 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment. Strong leadership and team management skills. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies. Advanced understanding of GD&T, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, process flow, control plans, ECNs, etc. Proficiency in SolidWorks/AutoCAD software, ERP systems, and other manufacturingrelated tools. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
