We are Making Sustainability Happen.As our new Hydrogeologist-in-Training/Environmental Scientist you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.RoleAs a member of our Earth Sciences team, youll join a group of professionals that includes hydrogeologists and hydrologists, geochemists, surficial geologists, ecologists, geomorphologists, technologists, technicians and environmental scientists to work in a dynamic and collaborative work environment on multi-disciplinary projects.Well look to you to bring demonstrated skills and experience executing hydrogeological investigative and monitoring work, and provide practical solutions to address the characterization, development, management, protection, and remediation of groundwater resources.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and conduct hydrogeological field investigation programs including drilling, test pitting, and installation of monitoring wells;Install, monitor and assess wetland minipiezometers, staff gauges and dataloggers;Site wide and Feature Based Water Budget Assessments;Data entry and Technical Report preparation;Design and implement groundwater field sampling and testing programs;Hydrogeological assessment for infrastructure and land development projects;Aquifer testing (slug tests and pumping tests);Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with the project team; and,Knowledge of health and safety protocols.This is a unique opportunity to bring your expertise to a highly engaged team, where your efforts and impact will be recognized and valued immensely.Working @ SLRWith us, there is no doubt youll grow your subject-matter expertise and industry knowledge. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and locationFull-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancementQualificationsMinimum two years of experience in a similar hydrogeological role in the environmental services industryBroad knowledge of environmental site assessment, site remediation and hydrogeology (water resource management, groundwater chemistry, aquifer development, and surface water-groundwater interactions)Working knowledge of provincial, local and industry specific regulations and guidelinesUnderstanding of the design and analysis of aquifer testing and monitoring programs to characterize the physical and geochemical characteristics of the subsurface environmentKnowledge of conceptual hydrogeologic models that consider aquifer characteristics, groundwater quality and geochemistry and overall water balance at both the local and regional scaleUndergraduate degree in environmental engineering or geosciences. Masters degree in hydrogeology or equivalent preferredRegistered or Eligible to register for P.Geo. or P.Eng. designationValid drivers license and willingness to travel to job sites/clientsThis job posting is for an existing vacancy.
