The Opportunity: The Regina Leader-Post is seeking a talented photographer/multimedia journalist with exceptional photoandvideo skills to capture compelling visual stories that informandengage our audiences, with emphasis on Regina and southern Saskatchewan. As part of a collaborative newsroom team - including reporters, editors,anddigital specialists - you will cover breaking and non-breaking news, sports, entertainment, business and related events, and be enterprising to find other visuals that tell stories in their own right. The successful candidate will also find ways to creatively and proactively illustrate our needs. The emphasis is on timely visual content to enhance storytelling online and in print, while thriving in a fast-paced news environment with tight deadlines. Whatyoulldo: Capture high-quality photographsandvideos to meet daily needs for all platforms, working remotely with the newsroom. Participate in daily news meetings and enlist your experience to help shape our visual agenda to illustrate stories. Editandprocess photosandvideos using industry-standard software to meet tight deadlines. Collaborate with reportersandeditors to develop compelling visual narratives. Contribute to team planning for coverage of major events, high-profile stories, special projects/features andother assignments. Uploadandorganize photosandvideos into Postmedia's photo management system for use as stockandfile visuals. Who you are: An experienced news photographer with exceptional skills and a strong portfolio demonstrating news judgment, composition and lighting expertise. A visual storyteller, able to convey context in news, sports,entertainment and business settings and work with reporters and editors to maximize visual story potential, including for non-traditional formats. Able to prioritize assignments and pivot to changing needs as news cycles demand. Comfortable taking direction, but unafraid to pitch and advocate for compelling visual approaches that others dont see. Proficient in Adobe PhotoshopandFinal Cut Pro, as well as photo management systems such as Photo Mechanic. Proficient in video shooting, editing,andproduction. Willingness to work flexible hours as circumstances demand. You have a valid Saskatchewan drivers license and a reliable personal vehicle Compensation: This is a unionized position subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement. The starting salary listed in this job posting is based on the Year 1 rate outlined in the collective agreement. Offers will be made based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
