NexGold has an exciting opportunity for one (1) Mechanical Engineering Lead position working with the projects team. Initially, this role will have regular travel to our Corporate Office in Toronto and periodic trips to the assigned Project. This role will transition to an on-site rotational work schedule during the assigned Projects construction phase. Initially, this role will be assigned to the Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia. Following the Projects construction phase at Goldboro, this role may have the opportunity to transition to operations at Goldboro or may be assigned to the Project team at the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, Ontario, or other project sites in the future. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this position will be responsible for all mechanical and piping design and execution ranging from feasibility level to detailed engineering for the assigned Project. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for all mechanical and piping engineering related activities for the assigned project; Provide design, coordination, and oversight of various mechanical/piping consultants including, but not limited to, process piping, pumping systems, conveying systems, dust collection, bins/tanks, HVAC, general processing plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems; Verify calculations for sizing of systems and selection of equipment; Review and approve scope of work documents, equipment and piping technical specifications, calculations, reports, design criteria and other documents as required; Produce technical communications, including report writing and presentations; Review and approve technical bid analysis for mechanical equipment typical of the mining industry; Manage project engineering documents such as design criteria, equipment data sheets, specifications, plant layouts, and general arrangements; Oversee the development of 3D modelling for the processing plant; Generate and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards; Ensure that piping design engineering standards are maintained and adhered to on the project; Co-ordinate with engineering consultants to meet the project schedule and budget; and Application of technical skills to perform engineering tasks and problem solving. Other Duties Promote, establish and maintain a climate favorable to the application of ethical and professional practices. Maintain a positive working relationship with other members of the NexGold Project Team. This includes keeping the Manager, Engineering informed of all technical and quality issues, and the Area Managers informed of any issue affecting scope, cost and/or schedule for their area. Demonstrate a personal commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental responsibilities. Occasional regional travel (i.e., day trips to communities surrounding the Project sites). Additional responsibilities or tasks as reasonably assigned. What You Bring Required Qualifications A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program License to practice in Nova Scotia or the ability to obtain a license to practice in Nova Scotia A minimum of 10 years designing and detailing mechanical equipment and piping systems for mining projects A sound knowledge of applicable local standards and statutory and regulatory engineering requirements Proven ability to plan, delegate, organize work and supervise designers and drafters Strong computer skills Strong presentation and technical writing skills Demonstrated knowledge of project management and controls Study management experience Ability to use CAD and other design software such as Autodesk or Cadworx Exposure and familiarity with CAPEX and OPEX cost estimating for brownfield projects Valid unrestricted drivers license Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Ontario and Nova Scotia Role Details Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. During construction phase, schedule will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD). Work Arrangements: Hybrid with periodic travel to the assigned Project site and regular travel to the Corporate Office in Toronto, if the incumbent does not live in Toronto. Department: Projects Compensation: Competitive compensation package including base salary range of $160,000-$185,000 annually, dependent on incumbent's qualifications and experience.
