At TYR Tactical, every stitch counts.About the roleReporting to the Director, Human Resources, TYR Tactical Canada is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations for our Ottawa manufacturing facility. This on-site role provides broad HR support across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training coordination, HR administration, and legislative compliance. As an HR Generalist, you will work closely with employees and supervisors to support a positive and productive workplace, while ensuring HR programs and practices are delivered effectively. You will also contribute to and support overall HR strategy, investigations and major employee relations matters.Your key responsibilitiesSupport the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and documentation in alignment with the Canada Labour Code, ESA, OHSA, AODA, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Pay Equity Act.Assist with workplace investigations by gathering documentation, scheduling meetings, and preparing files; escalate issues to the Director, HR as required.Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for hourly and entry-level salaried roles, including posting, screening, interviewing, reference checks, offers, and onboarding.Support payroll administration (in collaboration with finance or external partners), benefits enrollment and changes, RRSP/DPSP or pension administration, WSIB claims submissions, and ROE preparation.Track attendance and leaves of absence (parental, medical, personal emergency) and support return-to-work and accommodation processes as directed.Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data; ensure compliance with PIPEDA and internal document management standards.Update job descriptions, assist with Employee Handbook edits, and support Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) coordination.Assist with employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and retention activities.Help coordinate training and development programs, including onboarding training, mandatory health & safety training, and compliance modules.Serve as a first point of contact for general employee HR inquiries and help facilitate routine conflict-resolution conversations where appropriate.Provide administrative and coordination support for workforce planning, employee communications, and HR projects.Prepare basic HR reports and support data collection for metrics related to staffing, training, and turnover.Assist with organizing company events, celebrations, and social committee initiatives.Skills and qualificationsPost-secondary education in Human Resources Management or related discipline preferred.24 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.Experience with recruitment processes and HR administrative tasks.Proficiency with HR systems, databases, and MS Office Suite.Bilingual in English and French is preferred.Compensation and benefitsThe The hiring range for this position is $65,000$75,000 annually, based on a 40-hour work week.
