If youre looking for a place where hard work and ambition are recognized and rewarded, wed love to meet you.The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Customs Specialist to support the execution and continuous improvement of our Customs Brokerage Department. In this role, you will ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of customs processes, including the accurate and timely release of goods with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), while contributing to the development of efficient procedures that enhance compliance, service quality, and customer satisfaction.In addition, you will provide excellent customer service to current and future clients with regard to customs clearance processes, documentation, and billing for services rendered, utilizing KWE software to ensure accuracy and efficiency.What Youll Do Provide related customs service to clients and carriers, including tracing/tracking shipments, verifying charges, issuing cheque requests.Be responsible for imaging/scanning files through the DM Document Management tool and moving files to appropriate folder.Process shipments using SWI Single Window Initiative with all applicable PGAs Government Agencies while using existing client HS Harmonized System code database.Ensure that all miscellaneous charges are protected on entry for client billing to include but not limited to terminal fee, storage, dock delivery etc.Understand how to perform a credit release request during regular hours and afterhours.Ensure all paperwork has the information to process for customs clearance and if require reach out to clients/carriers/vendors for any missing info.Ensure clients and carriers are updated with any processing delays. Inform Management of any issues or delays so they can further action if required.Be responsible for making sure all correspondence to include client email communication is imaged using SSD Solid State Drive technology to the entry file.Classify HS Harmonized System codes to client commodities when required and ensure final billing to client is correct and includes payables if required.Provide a first place of contact for client inquiries, concerns and complaints and take appropriate action to rectify errors or omissions.Provide solutions to importers for ease of doing business, i.e.: incomplete documents, certificate of origins.Provide related customs service to clients to include but not limited to tracing shipments, scheduling delivery, classifying merchandise, verifying charges are added to file before automated billing, issuing cheque requests, preparing delivery orders and completing B3s in a timely manner.Analyze and review all entries of the release agents. Utilizing the DM, moving files and following up on any delayed/held shipments.Process entries when required.Keep notes current and other employees informed of any changes.Ensure all correspondence on account profile has been electronically stored.Keep informed of regulatory changes and make sure they are aware and understand any new CBSA, PGA regulations.Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.Provide input in the effective operation of the customs department.Promote a safe working environment by complying with all safety policies, practices and procedures.Escalate to Management any noticeable changes to an account, i.e.: service failures, volume of shipments, keying errors.Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and provide input in the effective operation of the customs department.Provide operational and training support to Release Agent and Customs Specialist as required.Promote effective communication and cooperation by promoting harmonious relations.Answer all emails after regular business hours and ensure all are actioned appropriately.Must be able to work independently and meet daily targets.Report all unsafe activities to management and/or human resources.Provide support, back up relief and training to Moncton customs office and other area offices if needed during vacations and unexplained absences, etc.Perform all other job related / consulting duties as assigned by management.
