We look forward to receiving your application and discussing specific compensation parameters as part of our hiring process.POSITION SUMMARY:MasTec Purnell Canada is currently accepting resumes for an Industrial Field Sandblaster to join its Coatings team to support turnaround projects in Northern Alberta and British Columbia for duration between two (2) to six (6) months.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Prepare materials for sandblasting or coating, including removing previous paint surfacesAbrade surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipmentShovel or pour abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopperMask specified areas of object to protect from abrading actionOperate and maintain sandblasting and coating equipment to job specifications, substrate surface preparation, and abrasive blastingOther duties as requiredEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSHigh school education preferredMinimum 2 years of experience with industrial sandblastingFacility and turnaround experience is requiredNACE Certificate is considered an assetExperience with oilfield services is requiredKnowledge of general pipeline construction both composite & steel would be an assetH2S AliveWHIMISStandard first aid certificationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Take reasonable care of your own and others health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Purnell's 6 Core ValuesProficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of heavy equipmentValid Class 5 drivers license is requiredFamiliar with abrasive blasting and coatings processesAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. is requiredAmbitious, pro-active, high-energy, positive attitude and a team playerAbility to identify and report hazardsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectivelyStrong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracyRead and interpret documents such as safety rules
