Based in Toronto, we are committed to empowering startups to excel in a competitive, evolving landscape.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for a People Ops and Recruitment Coordinator based in Toronto, ON (hybrid) or NY state (Hybrid) with full remote for the right candidate. The coordinator will play a key role in streamlining talent acquisition efforts, onboarding new team members, and managing HR operations. Responsibilities include facilitating recruitment processes, implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, administering benefits, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The role involves collaborating closely with leadership to build an inclusive and highly engaged workplace culture.Key ResponsibilitiesHR OperationsManage end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and system access provisioning through Rippling.Maintain employee records and ensure timely updates in all systems.Administer payroll for W2 employees, 1099 contractors, and international hires via Rippling.Respond to employee inquiries related to HR, payroll, and benefits.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies.Maintain and update HR documentation, handbooks, and internal process guidelines.Coordinate with legal and administrative teams to route agreements for signature.Conduct weekly Finance and HR check-ins with leadership to ensure smooth operations.Recruitment & Talent AcquisitionAssist in drafting and posting job openings across relevant platforms.Manage applicant tracking and conduct initial applicant screening interviews.Schedule and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.Support candidate communications throughout the recruitment process.Administrative & Systems SupportSet up and verify documentation for new hires in Rippling.Handle urgent communications via Slack and email teamsManage and update documents using microsoft sharepoint and Adobe sign.Demonstrate general proficiency with computers and digital workflows.Required Qualifications2+ years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or related fields.Prior hands-on experience using HRIS platforms such as Rippling.Proven track record supporting recruiting and onboarding initiatives.Strong knowledge of U.S. & Canadian payroll and HR compliance requirements.Experience with international EOR / Deel would be an asset.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.High attention to detail, time management, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Linkedin recruiter, Google Workspace, DocuSign, and other cloud-based tools.QualificationsExperience in HR Management and Human Resources, with the ability to oversee staffing processes and maintain organizational complianceProficiency in Benefits Administration and comprehensive understanding of employee compensation modelsStrong capabilities in Employee Relations and fostering a positive workplace cultureKnowledge of HR Policies and ensuring adherence to local employment regulations and labor lawsExcellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skillsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferredPrevious experience in the tech or startup ecosystem is highly advantageousAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environmentLocation:Onsite hybrid preferred with full remote options (NY state or Ontario, Canada)Employment Type:Full-time (40 hours/week)
