WSP has an immediate temporary opportunity (with potential for extension) for a Wildlife Ornithologist to support an active potash project near Saskatoon, SK. You will play a critical role in safeguarding migratory birds and supporting responsible development by delivering highquality, sciencedriven fieldwork that protects sensitive wildlife habitats. Your Impact Conduct bird nest sweeps and identify highrisk nesting areas to support regulatory compliance and minimize project impacts. Design, implement, and monitor a variety of bird deterrent strategies on site. Deliver practical, engaging birdawareness training to site personnel to support a culture of environmental responsibility. Oversee the installation and field deployment of deterrent systems and habitat management measures. Maintain accurate digital data collection, ensuring timely entry and highquality QA/QC. Prepare clear, detailed field reports summarizing observations, methods, results, and recommendations. Collaborate with project teams to adapt mitigation strategies in real time based on field conditions and monitoring evidence. The Skills That Set You Apart Skilled in visual and acoustic identification of prairie bird species, along with strong understanding of avian behaviour and habitat cues. Additional wildlife identification skills (tracks, calls, signs) across nonavian taxa. Practical knowledge of the Migratory Birds Convention Act and its onsite application. Minimum 3 years of experience conducting bird sweeps; experience implementing deterrent systems is a strong asset. Comfortable working fulltime on site (MondayFriday) throughout the project duration. Proficient with digital field data collection platforms and data management workflows. Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to work collaboratively in dynamic field conditions. Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related disciplineor a technical diploma in an aligned field. Valid drivers licence. Why Choose WSP? Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $33.60 - $45.20 MB & ON: $30.70 - $42.90 NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $30.40 - $40.90 The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
