Location: Canada/RemoteContract: Permanent / FreelanceExperience Level: SeniorMission OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Warehouse Automation Specialist to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced automation solutions within distribution and logistics environments.You will act as a key System Engineer, bridging operational needs with cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, RTLS (Real-Time Locating Systems), and machine vision systems to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments and enjoys combining technical expertise, data analysis, and project leadership to transform warehouse operations.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Design & ImplementationDesign and deploy automated warehouse systems (AS/RS, conveyors, AGVs, robotic picking solutions)Integrate RTLS solutions for real-time tracking of assets and inventoryLead end-to-end system architecture aligned with operational requirementsTechnical Optimization & PerformanceAnalyze workflows and system performance to identify bottlenecksImplement data-driven improvements to maximize throughput and efficiencyOptimize warehouse execution systems (WES), warehouse management systems (WMS), and automation toolsMaintenance & TroubleshootingMonitor and ensure high availability of automation systems (robotics, sensors, vision systems)Diagnose and resolve system issues across hardware and software layersMaintain system documentation and continuous improvement processesProject Management & DeliveryLead or contribute to automation projects from concept to deploymentCoordinate with cross-functional teams (operations, IT, engineering)Ensure minimal disruption to live operations during implementationTraining & Change ManagementSupport operational teams in adopting new technologiesProvide training and documentation for system usage and best practicesSafety & ComplianceEnsure all systems comply with safety standards and industry regulationsContribute to improving workplace safety and ergonomicsRequired Qualifications7+ years of experience in warehouse automation, system engineering, or industrial automationProven experience with RTLS (Real-Time Locating Systems)Strong background in machine vision systemsHands-on experience with:WMS / WES systemsRobotics, AGVs, or automated material handling systemsSolid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, sensors, and control systemsWillingness and ability to travel regularly (nationally and/or internationally) to support project deployments and client sitesNice to HaveExperience in project management (PMP or equivalent is a plus)Knowledge of programming/scripting (Python or similar)Experience with data analysis and performance optimizationBackground in industrial engineering, robotics, or logistics systemsKey SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesSystem-level thinking and architecture mindsetAbility to work in complex, fast-paced environmentsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills
