Direct Support Specialist - Saint John CBI Home Health supports people at home and in the community. CBI Home Health is looking to hire a Direct Support Specialist in Saint John, NB. We are continuously seeking qualified candidates to join our team for future opportunities. Some weekend work required for all positions Paid orientation, training and development with opportunities to grow your career Comprehensive Benefit package with 25+ hours average worked each week Employee discount and perk offerings with various partnerships, including TD Insurance, Telus, Rogers, Goodlife, Perkopolis etc. Referral Bonus (if eligible) Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certification Reward and recognition programs Employee Assistance Program What You Will Do Supporting clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individuals quality of life Assisting and teaching daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being Daily documentation and reporting Menu planning and/or preparation Medication Administration (as delegated) Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles Supporting clients with varied level of personal care (e.g., hand-over-hand, full support, etc.) Assisting with household activities and chores Companionship What You Will Need To Be Successful You MUST have a Certificate or Diploma in one or more of the following: Child and Youth Worker, Human Services Worker, Social Sciences, Education, Community Support Worker (CSW), Behavioural Sciences (ABA, Instructor Therapist, Registered Behaviour Technician, Autism Support Worker), Police Foundations, Nursing (2 or 4 year program) Previous community experience supporting adults and youth with varying abilities which could include mental health and complex behaviours would be considered an asset Comfortable working with clients that have varying abilities and diagnoses such as ADHD, ODD, RAD, Autism Spectrum, etc. Current CPR and First Aid Certificate or willing to recertify within 3 months Valid Class 5 Drivers License Provide a Clear and current Criminal Record, and Vulnerable Sector Screening Thrive in a collaborative team environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Proven interpersonal and organizational skills Recruitment Technology Disclosure We use technology and automation to support administrative aspects of our recruitment process.
