Your opportunity: Electrical Engineer Dillons Electrical Discipline is looking for a capable engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The role involves designing, managing, and delivering electrical projects across a broad range of sectors while supporting business development and learning opportunities. Responsibilities Provide full spectrum of project delivery from requirement gathering, preliminary design, design, construction support, site reviews, commissioning, and troubleshooting for environmental, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, municipal, institutional and infrastructure projects. Design for power and electrical systems including power distribution Low and Medium Voltage, Motor Control, lighting systems, Instrumentation and Control, Emergency Power generation, Fire and communication systems. Prepare technical specifications, drawings, contract documents and technical reports. Prepare construction cost estimates and perform testing and verification of electrical systems. Assist with thorough site investigation/review for creating deficiency reports or determining existing site conditions during renovation projects. Assist with construction administration tasks, including shop drawing review, responding to RFIs and issuing contemplated change orders. Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments for employee tasks. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and support staff. Coordinate with utilities, equipment suppliers, contractors, and clients on a regular basis. Peer review to ensure all design meets quality and applicable standards including Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes, UL, National Building Codes, NFPA and others. Business Development Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations. Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request. Learning and Development Commit to selfdevelopment and ongoing learning and professional development. Provide technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring for junior staff. Contribute to Dillons corporate profile through participation in professional associations and committees. Qualifications Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university. At least 5 years of design experience in infrastructure (water/wastewater) electrical systems. Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to be licensed within six months. Minimum of 8 years of related professional experience. Experience Proven experience preparing and designing Low and Medium Voltage Electrical Systems, including: Electrical equipment arrangement, selection, sizing and location. Oneline diagrams and engineering studies (metering, protection and control). Power design, instrumentation, and control equipment specifications. Design calculations load analysis, voltage drop, equipment sizing, bus/cable tray support loading, conduit and wire sizing. Emergency power generator sizing. Grounding and bonding. Short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination calculations. SCADA systems and related control and instrumentation design. Overhead and underground electrical design. Motor Control Centre design. Lighting design and calculations. Communication systems (data, telephone, internet), security, access control, and fire alarm design. Experience preparing project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation. Ability to deliver accurate and thorough designs meeting industry standards and good engineering practices with excellent constructability. Demonstrated project management and business development success across project types. Experience reviewing internal and external designs for code compliance and constructability. Coordination with power and communications utilities for successful network integration. Maintaining complete project documentation design and construction, completion packages, asbuilt requirements and return data information. Leading teams of technical professionals on multidisciplinary projects. Extensive experience in electrical power and distribution design, fault protection and protective relay design for power utilities is a plus. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication.
