We are looking for a talented and motivated Geotechnical EngineerInTraining to support our Canadian Geotechnical Group in Vancouver. In this position you will play an integral role in multidisciplinary project teams to design, build and maintain largescale infrastructure across North America. Your education or experience in site investigation, soil and rock characterization, foundation engineering, ground improvement, soilstructure interaction and geotechnical risk assessment will support the delivery of major transportation, bridge, and heavy civil engineering projects. Responsibilities Supporting the design and delivery of geotechnical aspects of a variety of infrastructure projects, from early planning through design and construction. Planning and executing geotechnical field investigations, including coordination with drilling contractors and other supporting field services. Reviewing and interpreting geotechnical data, including borehole logs, lab test results, and instrumentation readings. Performing technical analysis, calculation and design for shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and seismic studies. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and external stakeholders to support project goals. Preparing technical memos, reports, and design documentation under the guidance of senior engineers. Contributing to the development of engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Participating in construction support activities such as undertaking field reviews, reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits. Assisting with proposal preparation and scope development for geotechnical tasks. Demonstrating a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous learning in a collaborative team environment. Candidate Specifications The right candidate is a selfmotivated person with a civil / geotechnical engineering background and an appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of infrastructure projects in Canada. The opportunity is ideal for a person interested in developing broad skills in the field related to geotechnical site investigation, subsurface characterization, geotechnical engineering analysis, as well as constructionphase geotechnical support. The Candidate Must Possess The Following Experience 25 years of geotechnical engineering experience. Bachelors level degree in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering. Postgraduate degrees would be considered an asset. Engineerintraining (EIT), or eligibility as an EIT in the applicable province. Understanding of site investigation methods, typical geotechnical laboratory testing and materials testing during construction. Familiarity with industrystandard geotechnical engineering software packages for slope stability analysis, pile design and settlement assessment. Experience with relevant technologies including Leapfrog, finite element analysis, such as PLAXIS or finite difference such as FLAC would be considered an asset. Valid drivers license.
