From fabrication and modularization to new builds, turnaround and maintenance, Aecon Industrial leads the way in industrial construction and water infrastructure, providing clients in Canada and the U.S. with vertically integrated solutions and exceptional selfperform work. The Assistant Electrical Superintendent supports the Project Director in planning, coordinating, and executing all electrification construction, operations and maintenance activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role provides daytoday leadership to field teams, ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and acts as a key liaison with clients, unions, and other stakeholders. Please note: This is an onsite hourly contract position supporting the Giant Mine project in Yellowknife, NT. What You''ll Do Here Manage and direct all activities with respect to electrification construction, operations, and maintenance. Represent the Company with the owner, client, and all other stakeholders. Maintain personal contact with major clients and unions. Ensure that Company policies and project procedures are being adhered to. Ensure that all functions and operations on the job are following local legislative requirements. Assist in the interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews. Coordinate work activities with other work operations. Monitor the overall progress of the projects and take corrective action where necessary. Ensure that owners are advised of all extra work and claims and that subcontractors are advised of back charges. Responsible for overall planning and scheduling to ensure that projects are constructed in a timely and costeffective manner. Assist in bid process. Responsible for implementing and monitoring the Companys Safety and Environment Policies and QC Plans. Ensure/track that the quality and frequency of safety inspections and reporting are in compliance with Aecon Health & Safety and Environmental Manual. Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis. Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, incident investigations, etc. Conduct regular inspections to ensure the work is completed to the level of quality identified in the specifications. Monitor Quality Assurance nonconformances and ensure appropriate training and followup. Hire, train, and mentor craft personnel. Ensure compliance with union agreements, if applicable. Responsible for multiple foreman and other craft labour. Direct and maintain discipline and morale of the field staff. Prepare staff development and succession plans for key positions in the department. Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. What You Bring To The Team Ability to carry drawings and diaries as required. Ability to use stairs, ladders and climb over rough terrain. Ability to work long hours per day in sometimes rough weather conditions. At least ten years of OCS construction and/or maintenance experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work within a team environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Valid drivers license. Ability to travel within the province as required. Familiarity with OCS drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Experience with management (direction and supervision) of unionized labour. Selfmotivated with good organizational skills.
