Your Role as Senior Automation Engineer Reporting to the Supervisor of Automation Engineering Services, the Senior Automation Specialist will provide PLC/DCS/HMI expertise for automation projects and lead design, programming, and commissioning activities, maintain project schedules, and ensure successful project completion. The role includes leading, coordinating, and expediting various engineering activities as part of capital expenditure projects, establishing project strategy, reviewing drawings, and ensuring design and detailing meet jurisdictional requirements while delivering technical, financial, and social solutions for clients. Key Accountabilities Technical and Documentation Leads preparation and review of complex technical calculations and problems. Oversees, reviews, approves, performs and finalizes programming, detailed designs and technical drawings in accordance with applicable codes, regulations and client standards. Leads site visits for commissioning activities, data collection, and assessments to provide recommendations for remedial action. Ensures build quality is as per design. Leads and provides oversight for QAQC checks as required. Completes and reviews project documentation and technical report development. Assigns, outlines and prioritizes work for engineers or technologists according to project demands. Business Development & Client Management Participates in client meetings to gather technical requirements, providing insights and solutions as needed. Fosters relationships with clients by delivering quality work, maintaining professionalism, and responding to inquiries in a timely manner. Assists project managers in tracking project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure ontime delivery. Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution. Assists in preparing project proposals, including scope definition and cost estimation, to secure new business opportunities. Maintains effective communication with clients, team members, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle. Manages smaller mechanical and multidiscipline projects, ensuring client satisfaction and project success. Professional Development Participates in training and certification programs, as required. Attends relevant industry workshops and seminars, as required. Drives a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Stays uptodate and evaluates new industry technology. Provides mentorship and leadership to junior engineers and staff. Engages in learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills. Qualifications 10+ years of related Automation engineering design experience. Degree in electrical, mechatronics, or software engineering or equivalent. Registered with PEO and holds a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng), or equivalent in Canada. Extensive knowledge in automation technology and products including new and legacy PLC and SCADA systems such as: Schneider Control Expert Schneider Process Expert Aveva Solutions (formerly Wonderware) RS Logix 5000 and/or Studio 5000 Factory Talk Design Studio Foxboro Galaxy Foxboro FoxDraw Emerson Delta V PI historian Experience in specifying new automated systems for green field mines and mining plants. Experience in commissioning of large systems. Strong industrial experience with surface and underground mining. Knowledge of miningrelated processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites. Strong analytical skills. Strong project management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Detailoriented with a commitment to producing highquality work. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices. Willingness to travel and attend meetings and field visits on client sites. Valid drivers license with access to personal vehicle. Working Conditions Hybrid work location options are available. Travel to client sites is required on occasion for meetings and field visits. Term FullTime, Permanent (40 hours/week) Compensation Salary range: $125,000 to $160,000 CAD per annum, based on responsibilities, internal equity, and market benchmarks.
