POSITION DETAILS Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daytoday accounting operations and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of monthend closing, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role will manage core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities, while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE). In addition, the Accounting Manager will provide assisted support to the controller on financial planning and analysis activities, including margin analysis, revenue analysis, gross profit monitoring, and file pricing support, helping drive datainformed decisionmaking across the business. The Accounting Manager will manage multiple accounting roles, while providing accounting support to TNG clients, internal staff, and appraisers. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures and ensuring appropriate accounting control are maintained. RESPONSIBILITIES Achieves accounting objectives by developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Supervises accounting staff and manages the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Monitors revenue and expenses, collections, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data. Prepares special reports as requested by the executive team. Maintains accounting controls and defines accounting policies and procedures, ensuring all staff fully understand policies and are held accountable. Verifies the accuracy of invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records through internal audits and provides timely reports to the Controller. Manages the reconciliations of multiple businessline accounts and assists in reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Assists with general ledger reconciliations, monthend journal entries and balancesheet accuracy; monitors intercompany transactions and reconciliations for monthend and yearend reporting. Supports the preparation and coordination of financial audits for both Canadian and U.S. entities, including providing documentation, schedules, and responses to auditor inquiries. Assists with the planning and management of government remittances to meet required deadlines. Meets accounting financial objectives by assisting the Controller with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and initiating corrective actions. Assists with the deployment of accountingrelated projects and adhoc reporting. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all organizational policies, including data, security, and health & safety policies. Other duties as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Direct oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, along with miscellaneous accounting staff (clerks, temps, coops, etc.) subject to change according to department and business needs. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing any issues or concerns brought by staff in accordance with department and company policy. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional accounting designation preferred (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA). 47 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in accounting best practices, financial analysis, and reporting. 12 years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising junior staff is considered an asset. Strong expertise in ERP systems (SAGE Intacct experience preferred). Knowledge of Canada and U.S. GAAP, financial statements, and internal controls.
