Senior Lead Electrical Engineer Minerals & Metals (M&M) Canada Wood is seeking a Senior Lead Electrical Engineer to join their Minerals and Metals (M&M) Canada team in Vancouver, BC. Role Reporting to the Head of Discipline for Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC), this role has overall responsibility for providing Electrical Engineering support on major projects. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for the electrical components of multidisciplinary industrial projects. Work and communicate effectively within a team of electrical engineers and designers, and interface with other engineering disciplines, project management, and vendors. Interface with clients from the conceptual phases of a project to detailed design. Lead the electrical engineering team for the next few years through guidance and mentoring. Prepare detailed proposal input and review electrical proposal inputs for quality and completeness. Prepare estimates for complex heavy industrial electrical engineering projects. Review, check and approve the work output of disciplineassigned personnel as required. Serve as the lead electrical engineer on projects, primarily on Canadian and U.S. projects. Perform engineering design and related duties including power system studies, equipment specifications and selection, vendor management, power distribution layouts, grounding, LV and MV motor sizing and selection, cable distribution design, schematic, singleline, termination schedule, and wiring design. Prepare technical evaluations of suppliers proposals. Coordinate and interface with equipment vendors and review vendor documentation. Prepare construction contracts and scope of work. Prepare work plans and reports in a concise technical manner according to the project specifics. Assist with construction supervision and commissioning of industrial electrical systems. Identify scope and schedule changes according to the Change Control Process. Maintain and plan cost control for all scopes of work. Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations and procedures. Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review. Attend site visits to collect data as required for projects. Qualifications Expected 20+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering. At least 10 years of experience leading the electrical discipline on large minerals and metals projects. Experience on at least 5 multimillion dollar mining projects. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized North American university. Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or able to register within approximately 3 months of hire. (P.Eng. in the U.S. is an asset.) PMP certification is considered an asset. Comprehensive understanding of North American electrical codes and standards. Strong leadership qualities and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting techniques is considered an asset. Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood. Qualifications Desirable Experience with ETAP or similar software design tools is considered an asset.
