Field Service Engineer (Advanced) - Cover Alberta and Saskatoon (Future location: BC) Focus: Health care diagnostic lab experience and Advanced Clinical Pathology System. Overview The Field Service Engineer (Calgary and Edmonton) is a high-level technical specialist responsible for the company''s most complex pathology solutions. This role requires a seasoned expert with significant experience in the medical industry and a deep understanding of the specialized workflows and chemistry involved in tissue processing. You will handle the most challenging technical (electro-mechanical) escalations and critical installations across Western Canada. Key Responsibilities Advanced Installation & Commissioning: Oversee the end-to-end installation of complex laboratory suites. This includes site readiness assessment, hardware integration, performing formal verification to meet strict clinical standards on the full range of pathology equipment. System-Level Repair: Lead the service and complex troubleshooting of auto-slide preparation systems, tissue block facing devices, high-throughput tissue processors, automated staining/cover slipping lines, and other pathology equipment where hardware, software, and fluidic chemistry intersect. Workflow Optimization: Fine-tune equipment parameters to ensure optimal tissue processing quality, reagent efficiency, and alignment with specific laboratory protocols. Customer Relations: Act as a trusted technical advisor to Lab Managers and Pathologists. Maintain high-level professional relations by providing expert-level consulting and ensuring all service outcomes exceed client expectations. Emergency Territory Support: Serve as the primary responder for mission-critical down-time events in hospital and private pathology labs across the territory. Documentation & Inventory: Maintain detailed service logs, manage local spare parts inventory, and provide accurate technical reporting to the service department. Qualifications Education: Formal education in Automation, Mechatronics, Electro-mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering. Experience: 7+ years of field service experience specifically within the medical or life sciences industry. Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in servicing tissue processors, automated staining systems, and other high-end pathology lab automation. Bonus Skills: Technical experience with high-resolution digital slide scanners and pathology software. Travel: Independent management of a large geographic territory (MB to BC) with significant travel requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr
