Job Description The Port Engineer, Electrical and Automation is accountable for the maintenance and repair of the electrical and automation aspects of Seaspan Ferries service vessels, including LNG and Hybridelectric vessels. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing engineering problems on board, providing repair recommendations, managing planned maintenance, coordinating work orders for vessel refits, and mentoring shipboard engineers. Note: Due to business needs, this position requires full onsite presence at 7700 Hopcott Road, Delta. What Youll Do Respond to electrical issues reported by vessel crew or onboard engineer, assess feasibility of repairs while the vessel is in service. If a repair necessitates removal from service, establish estimated downtime and collaborate on a schedule with customer service. Provide scope of work or work order detailing required repairs for scheduled outofservice and drydock periods. When new equipment is needed, source options, obtain quotes, initiate purchase orders, and coordinate approvals with Purchasing to ensure timely delivery. Supervise electrical repair work to ensure timely, quality completion. Assist other Port Engineers with mechanical repairs and faults as required. Manage and contribute to the development of the planned maintenance system and software. Coordinate and prepare work scope for electrical vessels before outofservice and docking periods. Provide training on electrical and automation systems to vessel crew. Collaborate with Marine personnel and Engineering Superintendent to mentor and train junior engineers. What Youll Bring Experience as a shipboard Electrical Technical Officer or Industrial Electrician with sufficient training and experience. 4+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial electromechanical components and equipment. Knowledge of vessels and propulsion systems, including generator and motor maintenance and repair. Willingness to assist team members with mechanical repairs. Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, able to dissect problems and devise realtime solutions. Proven ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical failures. Capability to modify or change mechanical parts as required. Team player with a positive mindset, independent and adaptable in a challenging environment. Resourceful and eager to learn from others. Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound engineering decisions. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Mechanical experience assembling and disassembling components. Experience with AC/DC switchboards, grid converters, and propulsion inverters is an asset. Why youll love working here Fulltime, permanent position. Final base salary will be determined by the companys discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
