We partner closely with engineering teams to reduce toil, manage risk, and ensure Ziplines systems perform reliably at scale. About the Role As a Senior DevOps Engineer , you will play a handson role in operating and improving Ziplines cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and production reliability. You will own well defined infrastructure and reliability responsibilities endtoend, while collaborating closely with application engineers to embed DevOps and SRE best practices throughout the development lifecycle. This role blends cloud operations, infrastructure development, and reliability engineering, with meaningful oncall ownership and clear opportunities to grow into deeper system ownership over time. What Youll Do Partner with product and platform engineering teams to improve system reliability, scalability, and developer experience Build, maintain, and evolve CI/CD pipelines to support safe, fast, and reliable deployments Improve observability through better monitoring, alerting, logging, and telemetry Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to manage cloud resources safely and reproducibly Operate and scale containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker) Support and evolve Zipline''s AWSbased cloud infrastructure (experience with GCP or Azure is a plus) Assist our Data team in codifying and maintaining our data warehouse and ML infrastructure on GCP Participate in an oncall rotation, responding to and resolving production incidents Contribute to incident followups and postmortems by helping implement durable fixes and reduce operational toil Collaborate with Railsfocused product teams to improve reliability, performance, and deployment workflows What We Look For Production experience operating and supporting cloudbased systems Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language (Ruby preferred; TypeScript/JavaScript a plus) Experience working with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred) Handson experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar) Familiarity with CI/CD systems (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.) Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS) Working knowledge of observability practices and tools (Datadog, Sentry, Prometheus, etc.) Strong communication skills and a collaborative, serviceoriented mindset Comfort working as a remote contributormanaging time, communicating clearly, and delivering reliably Pride in building systems and tooling that are maintainable, welldocumented, and easy for others to use Technologies You''ll Work With AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker Google Cloud (Datastream, Vertex, BigQuery) GitHub, CircleCI Ruby on Rails (in partnership with product teams) Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch Datadog, Sentry Slack, JIRA, Google Drive Compensation At Zipline, were committed to paying our team fairly, transparently, and in a way that supports growth. This role is targeting an annual salary within Canada of $122,688 CAD to $149,952 CAD. The broad salary ranges reflect the growth someone will experience in the rolefrom developing skills to reaching expertise within their career level. Weve found that hiring team members with the expectation of being accomplished in the role sets them up for success, which for this position on the Canadian band is $122,688 CAD. Salaries below this point typically reflect someone with potential but still building the necessary skills, while salaries above are for individuals already excelling in the role, with a deep understanding of Ziplines impact on customers, product, and company. Our salary ranges are determined by market, factoring in our revenue and employee size and paying competitively. In higher cost of living markets, we apply 510% multipliers on our ranges, depending on the location, to maintain competitive compensation and reflective of the increased expenses our team members face in those areas. While we primarily hire in Canada and the USA, we are a global employer, and all hiring regions will use the same methodology to determine fair and transparent pay.
