We have worked on innovative subway infrastructure projects, such as the Highway407 stations, the Northern Tunnels for the Toronto York Spadina Subway Line Expansion, and the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Fredericton Moncton Highway. FCC Canada excels in civil works such as roads, railways, maritime construction, tunnels, bridges, and subway projects. We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent for the Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE SRS) project, a 50/50 joint venture between Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. The project is an 8km extension of the TTCs Line2 service into Scarborough, replacing Line3 (the Scarborough RT). The construction is split into two contracts: Advanced Tunnelling (AT) and Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS). Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is the partner for the development phase. Main Responsibilities Assist in managing daytoday site operations and construction activities. Plan and supervise the work of subcontractors and own forces on the project, including determining methods of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment and work schedules. Assume responsibility for productivity of subtrades, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project. Understand the scope and sequencing of work, planning and prioritizing tasks, and effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks to minimize downtime on sites. Ensure the project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications and project schedule and budget. Interface with client representatives, design consultants, other contractors, etc. Ensure the project is constructed within project quality guidelines. Maintain appropriate field documentation, including safety records, daily progress reports, rental records, concrete logs, asbuilt drawings, etc. Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel. Organize and chair weekly subcontractor and safety meetings. Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs and mentorship with crew. Participate in basic layout and field engineering activities. Work with the Project Manager to periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules and budgets. Complete daily quality control inspections and checklists. Complete HSE inspections and reports. Record and report violations or disciplinary actions. Review Foreman records and track all rental items, ensuring returns are completed and documented. Education and Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry, preferably on largescale rail or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, construction methods, trade coordination, safety procedures and labour relations in a unionized work environment. Job Requirements Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and construction scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project). Valid drivers license. Flexibility to work the project schedule, which may include overtime, weekends and/or night shift when required. Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fastpaced environment. Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
