Position Overview Amico is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial, accounting, and reporting activities for project-based construction and equipment rental businesses. This role ensures strong financial controls, accurate project cost tracking, asset accounting, compliance with GAAP, and timely reporting to support strategic decision-making. The Controller partners closely with operations, project managers, fleet management, and business leadership to drive profitability, cash flow management, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management information and analysis. Manage the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records. Monitor project contracts and costs, analyze work in progress schedules, review revenue recognition and report on backlog and profitability. Oversee accounts receivable and collections, including payment compliance. Manage capital asset accounting and reporting for owned and leased assets. Maintain capital expenditure tracking and prepare financial analysis of equipment and fleet. Coordinate annual budgeting process and complete variance analysis of company results against budget. Support external audits, ensuring timely completion of requests and deliverables. Compile information for corporate income taxes. Supervise and mentor finance team members. Drive improvements in financial systems, data integrity, and reporting efficiency, including ERP optimization and reporting automation. Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and internal controls. Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to management as required. Qualifications & Experience 6+ years of progressive experience, ideally within construction or project-based environments. Working knowledge of Canadian income taxes and excise taxes. Proficiency with Oracle or other large ERP solutions is preferred. Advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
