PositionOverview: TRP has a current vacancy for a Health & Safety Training Coordinator who will support the delivery, coordination, and administration of health and safety training and onboarding across our construction projects. This role combines training delivery with administrative and compliance coordination. The successful candidate will deliver standardized health and safety training using approved materials while maintaining accurate training records, managing the SMS software, tracking compliance, and supporting audit readiness. KeyResponsibilities: Training Delivery & Facilitation Deliver standardized health & safety training, orientations, and refresher sessions using approved content Conduct new worker and site orientations for internal staff, subcontractors, and visitors Facilitate toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions using pre-approved materials Deliver training on incident reporting, near-miss reporting, site rules, and health & safety processes Deliver system training for health & safety software platforms (e.g., Flex), including training for internal staff and external subcontractors on system use, reporting, and workflows Adapt training delivery to suit different audiences, including office-based staff, site teams, and external partners Collect attendance records, training feedback, and system training completion records Training & Onboarding Coordination Coordinate onboarding and safety orientation for employees, subcontractors, and visitors Schedule internal and external safety training (e.g., WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid) Track training completion, certifications, and expiry dates using training matrices and databases Follow up with workers and subcontractors to ensure training compliance prior to site access Records Management & Compliance Maintain accurate and up-to-date health & safety training records and files Collect, organize, and archive certificates, sign-in sheets, and orientation records Support document control for health & safety procedures, forms, and templates Prepare training and compliance records for audits, inspections, and client reporting Systems, Reporting & Audit Support Administer training tracking systems, spreadsheets, or Learning Management Systems (LMS) Generate compliance reports identifying gaps and upcoming training expiries Support ISO / COR / client audit preparation by compiling required evidence Act as a primary support resource for users of the health & safety management system (e.g., Flex) Provide guidance to internal and external users on system navigation, data entry, and reporting requirements Support rollout of new system features, modules, or process updates Maintain user guides, quick-reference materials, and training aids for system use Support ISO / COR / client audits by demonstrating system training, user competence, and controlled processes Assist Health & Safety leadership with reporting and administrative tasks Communication & Coordination Act as a point of contact for training & system-related inquiries from site teams and subcontractors Liaise with external training providers to coordinate certified training where required Communicate training requirements clearly and professionally Support continuous improvement of onboarding and training processes Data & Reporting Maintain current documentation, including daily inspection checklists, safety meeting minutes, and incident records. Provide weekly/monthly site safety metrics (e.g., inspections completed, actions closed, incidents reported). Working Conditions: Based on a major construction environment (office and field). Some site travel across project locations; exposure to noise, dust, weather; occasional entry to tunnels/shafts/confined or restricted areas following controls. Requires the use of PPE and the ability to walk on uneven terrain and climb stairs/ladders. Core hours with flexibility for night/weekend training, audits, shutdowns, or emergencies. Qualifications: Education College diploma/University degree or certificate in: Occupational Health & Safety Health & Safety / Environmental / Construction Management Adult Education / Training / HR (with safety experience), or Equivalent combination of education + practical experience Certifications/Training The following certifications are considered strong assets for this role: CRST equivalent safety technician certification Working at Heights First Aid & CPR Internal Auditor training (ISO 45001 / COR auditor) Train-the-Trainer or Adult Education certification Training & Facilitation Demonstrated ability to deliver structured training, orientations, and refresher sessions to adult learners Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences, including site-based and office staff Ability to follow standardized training materials and approved curricula without deviation Experience collecting attendance records, training feedback, and completion data Systems & Digital Competence Strong aptitude for learning and administering software systems and digital tools Experience training internal and external users on system workflows, data entry, and reporting requirements Ability to support adoption of health & safety management systems (e.g., Flex, LMS, or similar platforms) Comfortable creating and maintaining quick-reference guides, user instructions, and training aids Coordination & Organization Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple training schedules, deadlines, and priorities Strong attention to detail when tracking training completion, certifications, and expiry dates Ability to manage training matrices and compliance records accurately Proactive in following up on incomplete training or documentation Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and external training providers Confident in communicating training requirements and system expectations Ability to manage non-compliance diplomatically and escalating issues appropriately Compliance & Audit Support Understanding of compliance-based environments and the importance of accurate recordkeeping Ability to prepare and present training to various stakeholders Professional Judgment & Boundaries Clear understanding of role boundaries and willingness to escape technical or regulatory questions to Health & Safety leadership Ability to follow defined procedures and governance structures Reliable, accountable, and consistent in applying approved processes Personal Attributes Detail-oriented and process-driven Calm and professional under pressure Comfortable working independently while supporting a larger team Adaptable and open to continuous improvement Valid Class G drivers licence and ability to travel between sites.
