Join us and design your place with Stantec.You will work with general supervision and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member on larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which will include Revit design, calculations, and field work.Your Key ResponsibilitiesAct as lead for projects of small to medium complexity/size while being a key member of large-scale projects.Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all electrical engineered systems or products for a project including generators, UPS. Additionally, experience with solar PV and energy storage systems will be considered as an assetEngages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formatsUtilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings electrical systems and provides markups for junior engineersPrepares and revises documentation in various electrical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and detailsLeads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendorsParticipates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimatingAssists upper-level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and scheduleLeads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documentsPerforms and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer softwareUtilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized building electrical elementsParticipates in constructability reviewConducts quality assurance and quality control on own projectsAssists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical groupWorks on multiple projectsQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsThe successful candidate shall demonstrate relevant experience in Buildings (commercial, light industrial, industrial, institutional, governmental);airport and transportation sectors will be considered as an additional valuable assetComprehensive knowledge and application of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Canadian Electrical Code and applicable building and energy codesGeneral understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsGeneral knowledge of electrical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standardsAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleAbility to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtThorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to othersAdvanced oral and written communication skillsPresentation and interview skills are preferredRequires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with AGI32, ETAP, Power System StudiesInterested in business development and proposalEducation and ExperienceBachelors degree or equivalent in Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer required or in final stages.Minimum of 6 years of Canadian experience required.LEED Green Associate or LEED AP is an asset.Certifications such as PMP, LC, RCDD is an asset.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
