Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer Grande Prairie, AB Responsibilities Lead the electrical engineering and design for industrial plants and process projects including medium voltage power distribution, motor control centers, power and control schemes, single line diagrams, equipment and cable tray layouts, cable and conduit routings, grounding, lighting layouts and supporting power studies; Independently prepare and lead instrumentation and controls engineering and design, including process control systems (DCS/PLC), control panel designs, loop drawings, network architecture drawings, electrical infrastructure deliverables such as cable schedules and power distribution, and electrical calculations like load lists, voltage drops, and conduit/cable tray/wireway fill; Responsible for the quality and approval of engineering drawings and documentation; Able to complete projects on time and within budget; Ensure that engineering design specifications are as per contract; Interact with project managers, suppliers, clients and contractors; Troubleshoot electrical and I&C issues; Provide support to contractors during construction and commissioning; Review vendor drawings; Conduct meetings with clients and contractors. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering; Registered or eligible for P.Eng registration; 10+ years of experience in an industrial design, plant and/or construction environment; Experience in pulp & paper or fiber processing facilities is strongly preferred; Proficient in engineering software applications such as database tools, AutoCAD, Easy Power and/or ETAP; Broad knowledge and development of deliverables for electrical and controls design areas including process control systems, variable frequency drives, PLC, DCS, and HMI; Thorough understanding of codes, governing regulations, and industry practices; Project engineering and/or consulting engineering experience; Strong curiosity and desire to solve problems; Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven leadership skills and ability to collaborate with team members and interface with clients in a multi-disciplined environment; Ability adjust plans to fit changing situations while achieving the end goals; Skilled at managing multiple work streams simultaneously; Technical competence and strong attention to detail; Knowledge of electrical and controls design in substations, utility interfaces, power distribution, system studies, electrical services, systems would be an asset; Registered or eligible for P.Eng registration in the Provinces of British Columbia and Saskatchewan is an asset; Registration as a PE in the US is an asset; An understanding of power related studies (Load Flow, Power Factor Correction, Protective Device Coordination, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, and Ground Grid, as a minimum) is an asset; Benefits Work schedule and location are flexible, allowing for better work-life balance; Comprehensive benefits package includes extended health and dental coverage and RRSP matching; Employee Assistance Program for team members and their families; A culture of respect and inclusivity fosters long term relationships and a team atmosphere; Professional development and growth opportunities; Team member referral program recruiting incentives; Monthly Lunch & Learn sessions; Opportunities to bond with other team members, have fun and make a difference through involvement in social and safety committees, as well as fundraising and community support initiatives (e.g. Movember, Pi Day, Food Banks, Womens Shelters, Ronald McDonald House, Earth Day clean ups, etc.). #J-18808-Ljbffr
