What were looking for We are looking for a Microbiology Analyst II to join our Scientific team in a Full-time position. This role is based at our Fraser Head Office in Liberty Village, Toronto, and requires working on-site five days a week. Pay range The anticipated base salary for this position is $70,000 to $75,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. Responsibilities Evaluate new raw materials and finished goods to establish 'Acceptance Criteria' based on product categories. Design and execute stability programs and 'Period After Opening' (PAO) in-use studies to determine product shelf life. Perform Microbial Enumeration, Specified Organism Detection, Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET), and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) testing, microbial identification. Execute Method Suitability and Method Validation protocols for new products and processes. Investigate and resolve microbial challenges in new and existing products to ensure formula stability. Perform isolate identification and manage the laboratorys stock culture collection for quality control testing. Coordinate and process sampling for air, surfaces, water, equipment, and personnel to ensure facility hygiene. Operate and maintain specialized lab equipment (e.g., pH meters, water activity meters, autoclaves, Masterclaves, and automated plate pourers) and manage their qualification and calibration schedules. Prepare, review, and approve departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Lead laboratory investigations for Out-of-Specification (OOS) and Out-of-Trend (OOT) results, utilizing critical thinking to resolve test design or execution issues. Qualifications Experience in manufacturing sites for cosmetics or pharmaceutical is an asset. Familiarity with preservative efficacy in various cosmetic formulations is an asset. Experience in LIMS is an asset. GMP/GLP trained and aseptic technique qualifications are an asset. What youll gain Theres a lot of good stuff that comes along with being a DECIEM team member.
