LOCUM PSYCHIATRIST - THE RESIDENCE AT HOMEWOOD The Residence at Homewood is one of Canadas premier private mental health facilities, offering an exceptional standard of care within a small (9 bed) discreet, luxury setting. Our program emphasizes individualized, one-on-one treatment, supported by intentionally small patient caseloads. Position Summary A locum opportunity is available for a Psychiatrist at The Residence at Homewood, Aug through October2026 working3days per week. In this role, the Psychiatrist will deliver onsite, evidencebased psychiatric care for individuals living with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and concurrent disorders. Working collaboratively within a dedicated interdisciplinary team including Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Addiction Counselling, Art Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, and 24/7 Nursing, the Psychiatrist will play a key role in comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, and clinical oversight throughout the clients stay. What Youll Be Doing Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, referral, daily care, and discharge. Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, medication management, referral to the Interventional Psychiatry Service (ECT, rTMS, Ketamine infusion) when appropriate, as well as the interdisciplinary team for individual support, return to work planning, and psychotherapeutic interventions. Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including daily rounds and sufficient individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met. Collaborate with other physicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team. Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes and a comprehensive discharge summary of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team. Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided). Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions. Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained. Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences. Complete and submit OHIP billings in a timely manner. Ability to provide ECT treatment to patients at the Homewood Health Centre approximately once per month is an asset. Liaison with thirdparty referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, WSIB). What We Are Looking For A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or an equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred. Interest in working with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient care. Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization. Inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions and/or communication. Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, and customers. Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problemsolving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly developed organizational and timemanagement skills. Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital. Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a welcomed asset.
