Launch Site Facilities Manager/Responsible Engineer As an end-to-end responsive space company, Firefly Aerospace is on a mission to enable our world to launch, land, and operate in space anywhere, anytime. This position is located at Vandenberg SFB. SUMMARY Firefly Aerospace is looking for a facilities manager / responsible engineer to take ownership of the maintenance, upkeep and improvements of the facilities and launch pad infrastructure at Space Launch Complex 2 on Vandenberg Space Force Base. This position will work directly with the engineering and technician teams to keep our equipment and facilities in good working order, calibrate critical components, and oversee maintenance and improvement projects. This position will also work with support or construction contractors and the Space Force Civil Engineering office as required to define scope, execute work and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Key Responsibilities: Oversee preventative maintenance and repair of launch site facilities. Plan and supervise renovation and repair efforts. Write statements of work and requests for proposals for contracted work. Evaluate contractor bids, coordinate requirements, and manage work execution of contractors. Collaborate with responsible engineers of the launch pad systems to coordinate and execute preventative maintenance, including calibration of key system components. Interface with the civil engineering office and support personnel of Vandenberg SFB to ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes. Write work instructions and supervise work execution for facilities technicians. Basic Qualifications: Education: B.S. in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience with professional certifications. Experience: 10 years of related experience managing facility maintenance and operation. Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of facility-related systems including HVAC, Electrical, Structural, and plumbing systems. Contract Management: Demonstrated ability to manage ongoing service contracts and contractor activity on key projects from design through execution. Skills: Demonstrated leadership ability in supervising teams through day-to-day operations and project execution. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Project and subcontract management experience. Ability to supervise a small team in project execution. Proficiency with MS Office, Confluence, and Jira. Desired Qualifications: Working knowledge of AF MAN 91-710 Previous experience with high pressure fluids systems, hydraulics and cryogenic systems. Previous experience maintaining facilities on US Government and / or military installations. Work will be on-site at the launch complex on Vandenberg SFB. Work can include outdoor efforts in the elements of a coastal location. Standard shift times are 0700 1530 but can include off hours or weekends during launch campaigns. Travel Requirements: Negligible but could include short-duration and infrequent trips to the production facility or other launch sites. Additional Requirements: Must have the ability to access VSFB and pass the company and US Government background investigation.
