RISE Case Specialist - Karen & Burmese Speaking Overview The RISE (Refugee & Immigrant Specialized Experience) Case Specialist provides culturally competent, traumainformed, and genderbalanced 1:1 navigation and coordination for highneeds clients in the Surrey and Delta communities. The role supports individuals and families over a 1218 month period, strengthening personal capacity, foster independence, and preparing them for graduation from the program. Key Areas of Responsibility Outreach and solicitation of client referrals, including working with IRCC RAP. Respond to referrals by outlining program eligibility and services. Conduct client intake, including service consent, needs assessment, settlement planning, and referral to community providers. Conduct needs, assets, and capacity assessments through interviews and case histories. Plan, prepare, and deliver lifeskills training and encouragement (individual services). Participate in development and implementation of group services, workshops, courses, and support groups. Provide inhome and community support, facilitate positive family communication, and assist clients in making positive changes. Connect clients to community resources with language and cultural support. Provide emotional support, cultural brokerage, and crisis response as needed. Identify early warning signs of depression, family violence, substance abuse, or intergenerational conflict and refer to appropriate support services. Offer crisis counseling to ensure IRCC clients access settlement services. Develop integrated and holistic service/action plans. Participate in integrated case management meetings for more complex cases. Maintain client records for monthly reporting; produce intake, progress, and exit reports per policy. Liaise with other community service providers to coordinate services and advocate for client interests. Accompany clients to meetings and appointments as needed. Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and professional standards. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in a related human/social service field. At least one year recent experience in case managing vulnerable refugee populations, or equivalent education, training, and experience. Professional proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English, Karen, and Burmese. Recent experience conducting client needs assessments for multibarrier vulnerable immigrant and refugee populations and implementing holistic service plans. Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients. Knowledge of refugee settlement issues and community resources in Surrey and Delta. Independent, confident problemsolving skills for effective case management. Working knowledge of standard office equipment and software applications. Valid Class5 drivers licence and access to a vehicle. Flexible schedule and ability to adapt to client needs. Required Certifications Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
