Automated Control Room Director - Global News Regina Regina, SK, Canada Job Description Division: Global News Regina Work Status: Full-Time Location: Regina, SK (On-site) About the Role: Global Regina is currently seeking a full-time Automated Control Room Director to join their team. Reporting to the Technical Producer Supervisor, the successful candidate would be responsible for directing weekday morning newscasts in a Multi-Market Content (MMC) control room. This position requires regularly working weekday mornings, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed. You will contribute by: - Directing a variety of newscasts using a control room automation application. - Checking Mosart runs down for air and making changes to Mosart commands in Open Media as required. - Technical initialization and facilities check for camera robotics, video switchers, audio boards, character generators, teleprompters, etc. - Leading crucial technical and editorial decisions under pressure. - Taking charge of control room aspects when breaking news occurs. - Operating and maintaining working knowledge of production equipment. - Supporting multi-platform needs that include digital and OTT. - Building strong working relationships with producers, technicians and anchors who work on various newscasts. - Being aware of local and national current events. - Maintaining high standards of production procedures and on-air quality. - Performing other duties as assigned. Skills and experience you will bring: - Post-secondary education in a broadcast related field preferred. - Previous experience directing a control room is preferred; experience working in Multi-Market Content (MMC) and live control rooms considered an asset. - Experience working with Mosart, non-linear workflows and OpenMedia would be a strong asset. - Strong broadcast technical knowledge including automation capabilities, rundowns, broadcast audio and composition. - Knowledge of newsroom management systems including Mosart, Open Media, Grass Valley, ORAD, or Xpression. - Knowledge of lighting principles, virtual sets, and audio systems. - Ability to work and show leadership in high-pressure situations, react quickly, think on your feet, and work proactively. - Knowledgeable and interested in local, national, and international news. - Ability to calmly handle the demands and pressures of meeting multiple, daily broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - An engaged team player with a positive Make It Happen attitude. - Dexterity to adapt in a rapidly changing media and technology landscape.
