Description The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time Academic Neurologist for a Clinician Teacher position. The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Appointment at the Assistant Professor level requires advanced training and evidence of scholarship. The expected start date is July 1, 2026, or a mutually agreeable date thereafter. Advanced training in education is required to support and develop an educational agenda in stroke disorders in collaboration with divisional colleagues. The successful candidate should have advanced training in stroke and can provide expertise in the care of patients with stroke and related neurovascular conditions. Clinical responsibilities will include participation in oncall services, including thrombolysis (tPA), neurological input to endovascular therapies, stroke ward management, outpatient stroke care, and support of neurocritical care related to neurovascular disease. Advanced training in medical education is essential to develop new curricula and advance the educational experience of trainees. The successful candidate will contribute significant clinical activity in support of a robust academic stroke program, including a minimum of three overnight stroke calls per month. Additional responsibilities include shared General Neurology call, inpatient consultation services, participation in the neurocritical care ward service for several weeks per year, and management of outpatient clinical work. This position emphasizes expertise in both stroke care and education. The successful candidate should have experience in acute stroke care, including tPA administration, assessment for endovascular surgical candidacy and postoperative followup for medical optimization. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Neurology; and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Training should include a stroke fellowship, preferably at a highvolume referral centre, and be appropriate to the proposed academic rank. The successful candidate will have advanced postresidency training in a defined area relevant to the position and will devote approximately 75% of their time to clinical care and 25% to scholarly and administrative activities. Additional contributions include participation in divisional quality improvement and research initiatives. Performance will be evaluated by learners, colleagues, hospital administration, and education leadership. Estimated remuneration will range from $295,000 - 400,000 per year (fee for service) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the departments group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
