While we are headquartered in Calgary and maintain a satellite office in Houston, most staff elect to telecommute.What You Would Do in This RoleThe Project Engineer will work with various disciplines to ensure all engineering activities are accomplished. Duties will include:Directingand coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering and design teams to deliver project scopePlanning, scheduling and estimating design engineering effort on projects to ensure timely issuance ofall deliverablesProviding status reports and communicating progress,ongoing issues and recommendationswith the Project Manager and stake holdersSupport the Responsible Engineersas required in reviewing and approving designs and vendor drawings to ensure conformity with project specifications, company practices and good engineering practiceSupervising complex engineering tasks to execute the projectDeveloping a scope of work for a specific project deliverable (e.g., civil, piping, equipment modules and pipe rack modules among others)Coordinating development of construction work packages (CWP)Coordinating management of change documents (e.g., design change notices, trends, scope changes)Coordinating model reviews and other design reviewsPreparing project plans (project execution plan, design basis memorandums, manpower budgets, deliverable lists, schedules) for engineering deliverablesApproving all project technical documentation such as specifications, flow diagram, CWPs and plot plansMonitor engineering progress, support earned value reporting, and ensure compliance with control estimate and scheduleEnsure adherence to Quality Assurance Quality Control process, standards, instructions, and work proceduresAssigning and review work of subcontractor project engineering staffPreparing and update engineering control documentsMonitoring design changes and contract extrasGenerating and maintaining project logs, action lists and tracking sheetsMaintaining risk register and coordinate mitigation actionsParticipating in schedule review meetingsProviding general support for all project management activitiesPerforming other duties as requestedRequirementsBachelors degree in engineering or applied scienceAbility to meet safety requirements to attend site visitsA minimum of four yearsof experience in engineering and design in related industriesExcellent command of the English language (both written and verbal)Self-starter displaying independence and self-directionAbility to work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, piping, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation and CAD supportPreferredExperience in at least one major/large-cap project lifecycleExperience in conflict management8-10 years of experience in engineering and designP.Eng. registration with APEGAWhy People Like Working with UsWorking with Vista is a chance to contribute to the typeof challenging municipal and industrial projects that the world requires.
