As part of a dynamic design team, you will take on a key leadership role that includes overseeing a marquee, multimilliondollar project scheduled over the next five years. This flagship initiative will allow you to influence technical direction, coordinate major project phases, and contribute to innovative fire protection solutions of significant scale and visibility.Your main responsibility will be to design automatic fire sprinkler systems and produce drawings that comply with current codes and standards. You will also support project management activities to ensure successful execution.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Preparing detailed drawings based on architectural, structural, and mechanical plans using AutoCAD, Revit, and HydraCADPerforming BIM coordination, 3D modeling, and participating in interdisciplinary coordination meetingsPositioning sprinklers and designing systems in accordance with current codes and standardsReviewing, verifying, and adjusting drawings throughout the project lifecycle to ensure technical accuracy and complianceWorking closely with project managers, engineers, installers, and other trades to ensure proper coordination, problem-solving, and alignment of project objectivesIdentifying material requirements, ordering materials based on coordinated drawings using HydraList, and supporting procurement activitiesParticipating in project planning by assessing design constraints, timelines, and construction considerationsConducting field surveys to gather information necessary for accurate design and installation drawingsProviding technical support to project teams, contributing to decisionmaking, and helping maintain project schedules and client expectationsSuccess FactorsDiploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or Design or High School diploma with equivalent relevant experienceMinimum of 10 years of fire protection drafting experienceProficiency in computer-assisted design with AutoCAD and experience with RevitKnowledge of HydraCAD (an asset)Knowledge of standards and codes governing design and installation of automatic fire protection systemsValid drivers license and vehicleWhy Join Viking?Viking values, respects, and supports the interests of itsemployees from all walks of life.
