Role purpose The Director, Product Management Assurance is a leader within the Assurance Technology product organisation, responsible for guiding and developing a team of Product Owners who deliver the digital tools for the Grant Thornton global network of member firms. This role combines strategic product leadership with deep audit domain expertise to ensure our solutions align with the real-world workflow, judgment, documentation, and quality expectations of financial statement auditors. This leader will be a critical bridge between the Assurance practice needs and technology execution while coaching Product Owners, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement across requirements, backlog management and issue resolution. Main Responsibilities Product Strategy and Vision Partner with senior product and Assurance leaders to define and evolve the product strategy and long-term platform vision Ensure roadmap decisions reflect real auditor workflow needs, emerging technology opportunities, and market expectations Identify strategic gaps or opportunities in the current audit platform and propose solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, and end-user value Serve as a key contributor to annual product planning, investment prioritisation, and vision setting for Assurance Product and Technology Champion a forward-looking mindset within the Product Owner team, ensuring requirements and backlogs reflect both immediate needs and long-term evolution Leadership and Coaching Strengthen yourself and the teams capabilities in audit domain understanding and regulatory drivers Establish clear expectations around user-story quality, backlog management, requirements depth, and stakeholder communication Build Product Owner capabilities around understanding the end-to-end audit workflow, auditor personas, and regulatory drivers User Acceptance Testing (UAT) & Quality Oversee UAT execution across feature releases, ensuring scenarios reflect real audit workflows and regulatory requirements Ensure identified defects are validated, prioritised, and incorporated into upcoming feature and maintenance releases Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) to facilitate Product Owner requirements knowledge transfer sessions, test case reviews and testing approaches Participate in bug triage analysis, applying audit-domain judgment to determine severity and guide resolution priorities/timelines Requirements Definition Work closely with stakeholders, including member firms, and internal teams to gather and prioritise product requirements Guide Product Owners in producing clear, complete and auditor-centric requirements Identify requirements that involve/impact audit methodology, judgement-based workflows, or high-risk audit areas that require a deep dive analysis of requirements with applicable subject matter experts Product Development Drive the agile development process, ensuring timely delivery of features, enhancements and bug fixes Work closely with engineering, architecture, security, and support teams to prioritise and manage the product backlog Continuously analyse product performance and member firm engagement to identify opportunities for optimisation and improvements Establish and monitor key product metrics and user feedback to identify areas for improvement Cross Functional Collaboration Collaborate with engineering, QA, support, design and member firm Assurance technology teams to ensure a cohesive and successful product development process Facilitate communication between teams to address challenges and ensure alignment with product goals Represent the Product function in discussions with member firms and key practitioners to gather feedback and ensure product fit Location Canada Person Specification Bachelors degree in Accounting, Computer Science or similar fields Certified Public Accountant, Certified Scrum Product Owner certification or similar certifications Experience - essential Substantial experience in professional services environment Self-starter with the ability and confidence to develop and implement their own projects and workload Strong verbal and written communication skills Very good interpersonal skills and a good team player Good organisation and time management skills and an ability to manage multiple projects Strong relationship skills and cultural awareness, the ability to work well with people from different disciplines and cultures Ability to be agile, respond positively to change and contribute with an innovative and global mindset Ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams Experience - desirable Proven experience as a Product Owner in software development projects Previous experience working within a global professional services environment with international stakeholders Understanding of public accounting or accounting business areas Familiarity with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, DevOps, cloud platforms) Agile development Benefits At Grant Thornton International, youll join a global team working in a virtualfirst environment.
