Overview The MPGS provides professional soldiers to meet armed security requirements at Royal Navy, Army, RAF and other MOD bases across the UK mainland. Our primary role is to counter the terrorist threat posed to military bases within the UK. Responsibilities Security incident management such as suspicious packages, bomb threats, protests, etc. Patrolling site perimeters taking necessary action to preserve perimeter security. Controlling entry and exit managing control room and gate operations and ensuring all visitors are dealt with efficiently. Military Working Dog services (at selected sites). Requirements Background at least 3 years prior Military Service or currently serving in any arm of the British Military, regular or reserves. Age over 18 years and under 57 years of age at reenlistment. Fitness Eligibility medically fit with a Body Mass Index below 32. Driving Licence full UK driving licence with less than 8 penalty points. Previously Served Personnel Gap since leaving service former substantive Cpl/LH (or equivalent) and above ranks with no more than a 10year gap of service, and for former nonsubstantive Cpl/LH and below ranks with a gap of service of no more than 6 years. Applicants slightly outside the above criteria may still apply a waiver may be granted subject to approval and interview processes. Previous service check previous service records will be checked and final authorisation will be given by the Army Personnel Centre. Currently Serving Personnel Any currently serving regular or reserve personnel wishing to transfer to the MPGS from across the triservices must contact to discuss the best process for joining the MPGS. Benefits Entrylevel salary 26,849 (Pte) incrementally increasing to 29,269 (Pte) over 4 years. Full career pathway and promotion opportunities salary range from 30,374 (LCpl) to 56,283 (WO1). Continuation of armed services pension or new pension if in receipt of a full military pension already.
