Overview Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Power Production Location: Cape Breton Region, NS - On-Site Type of Employment: Temporary, Full-time Closing Date: May5,2026 We are looking for a Mechanical Trades Supervisor (Term) to join our Power Production team. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will lead a team of approximately 15 maintenance personnel at our various thermal generating stations during planned maintenance outages. Key Responsibilities Support various thermal generating stations on an established schedule, requiring travel and reporting across the province during the term with rotations. Provide leadership, supervision, and technical assistance in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment throughout the generating station; plan maintenance work in cooperation with other functional areas. Schedule and supervise maintenance and utility work; interact with Senior Management, Supervisory, Planning and Engineering teams to ensure safe and costeffective work. Create a work environment that encourages employees to expand their knowledge and skill base, adding value to the business. Provide supervision and development of maintenance teams, coordinate with other shifts and departments, and maintain compliance with environmental regulations. Commit to the NSPI Safety Program, proactively manage safety performance & culture as priority and demonstrate ongoing commitment to capabilities and leadership development. Work effectively as a member of the maintenance and utility team and demonstrate participation in the Competency Based Training program. Ensure personal safety, that of coworkers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations; account for environmental performance as it relates to environment management system processes and initiatives. Complete written reporting, including updating and creating job procedures, safety documentation, and job performance evaluations. Ensure NSPI is in compliance with all NERC/NPCC reliability standards related to Power Production. Required Qualifications and Competencies Possess either a Certification as a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic, Welder or Pipefitter. Hold a Mechanical Engineering degree eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia, or a Mechanical Technologist Diploma eligible for membership with TechNova. Minimum eight (8) years'' experience in a modern power generation facility or other heavy industrial environment with thorough knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, continuous improvement programs, maintenance planning and scheduling. Minimum five years'' experience in a leadership/supervisory mechanical role within heavy industry. Strong leadership skills and effective communication, computer, and interpersonal skills. Applicants with acumen for working in a fastpaced, multifaceted, mechanicaloriented heavy industrial operation will be considered an asset. Valid Nova Scotia Driver''s License with a minimum of two years driving experience and a satisfactory drivers abstract to NSPI.
