ABOUT THE ROLE The Executive Director is a critical role for the organization, responsible for advancing the organizations strategic priorities through strong governance, effective program delivery, and meaningful engagement with artists, members, funders, and partners. A key focus of the role is strengthening and diversifying revenue streams, including public funding, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives, to support the long-term sustainability of the organization. The Executive Director will also lead advocacy efforts and maintain relationships with government, industry, and community stakeholders to support the growth of the BC music sector. The ideal candidate brings experience in organizational leadership, fundraising, government relations, partnership development, and has experience working within a Board-governed environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Executive Director is responsible for leading the overall strategy, operations, and sustainability of Music BC, including: Lead the development and execution of Music BCs strategic plan in partnership with the Board of Directors Ensure strong governance, organizational effectiveness, and alignment with Music BCs mission and priorities Oversee day-to-day operations, including programs, staff, and organizational performance Manage the organizations financial health, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with funding agreements Lead fundraising, sponsorship, and partnership development efforts to diversify and grow revenue Build and maintain relationships with government, funders, and privatesector partners to support longterm sustainability Represent Music BC and the BC music sector with government, industry, artists, and community stakeholders Lead advocacy efforts and ensure programs and initiatives reflect the needs of the sector KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Demonstrated leadership experience within the music industry, a related creative sector, or the nonprofit sector Has successfully attained fundraising, sponsorship development, or revenue generation goals within the arts or cultural sector Experience developing and implementing organizational strategic plans in collaboration with a Board of Directors Experience working with public funding programs, cultural policy, or governmentsupported initiatives within the cultural nonprofit sector Experience overseeing organizational budgets, financial planning, and reporting Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and sustainability and to make sound decisions in complex organizational and policy environments Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills across diverse stakeholder groups Experience developing partnerships with industry organizations, government agencies, and sector stakeholders Experience managing programs, projects, or initiatives that support the development of artists or creative professionals Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
