Junior Electrical Designer or Engineer-in-Training Position Overview: We are seeking an entry level electrical designer or engineerintraining to join our North American electrical engineering department at SilentAire. Under the supervision of an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Designer, this position is responsible for collaborating in technical client conversations, pricing efforts, design development, code reviews, specification compliance, equipment certification, equipment testing, guidance for development of construction documents, and support during manufacturing, commissioning, and warranty. Key Responsibilities Technical Design: Interpret project specifications from clients and translate them into tangible designs. Create and maintain electrical engineering drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, cable/harness layouts, and panel layouts for HVAC equipment and modular data center applications. Perform electrical calculations for equipment such as MCA (minimum circuit ampacity), MOP (maximum overcurrent protection), and basic circuit loading. Troubleshoot testing/production issues with electrical equipment. Standards and Code Compliance: Ensure designs and drawings are in accordance with established SilentAire standards and procedures. Apply electrical codes, standards, and industry practices with demonstrated ability to select and place products within industrial equipment adhering to the customers specifications. Documentation: Preparation of work products including BOM generation and costing, design submittals, reports, drawings, and Engineering Change Requests. Incorporate design changes into drawings and BOMs and work with the document coordinator ensuring accuracy and clarity of the change and effect on various departments. Testing and Optimization: Work closely with Quality, Production, and other engineering groups to develop test specifications for products and assemblies in accordance with company guidelines, industry standards, codes, and client specifications. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying best practices and implementing innovative design solutions. Project Coordination and Collaboration: Work closely with crossfunctional teams including electrical/controls, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance enhancement. Collaborate and coordinate with production team for feedback/improvement opportunities of electrical design through change management procedures. Qualifications Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or Electrical Engineering Degree and registered with ASET or APEGA. 04 years of work experience in electrical design, drafting and/or manufacturing environments. Working knowledge of NEC/CEC, UL/CSA as they pertain to low/medium voltage electrical design. Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software. Valid drivers license. Occasional travel to various production facilities for inspections, factory witness testing, and other activities (mostly in Edmonton). Preferred Qualifications Experience with passive/active harmonic filters. 14 years of HVAC design experience with focus on data center design. 14 years of project management or coordination experience. Experience with AutoCAD Electric, Bluebeam Revu, EPLAN, SKM, ETAP, Visual Lighting Software, and PLM software. Previous experience as an electrician or field technician with hands on electrical testing and troubleshooting experience. Salary Range $62,000$106,000CAD (Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant; internal equity and market data).
