Manager, Maintenance Engineering is responsible for establishing maintenance processes to carry out the engine maintenance workscopes in the Cleaning, Inspection and Repair Departments to effectively meet OEM and customer requirements, while maximizing engine reliability and on-wing life and minimizing operating costs per hour. They are also responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving technical standards, supporting technical engine maintenance, tests and assisting lean production activities. General responsibilities: Recruitment and performance management of staff, including succession planning, discipline and promotion Manage and coordinate the activities of the cleaning inspection repair engineering department to accomplish the goals identified for the department Coordinate the MTU Canada cleaning, inspection and repair engineering activities with business strategies to improve MTU Canada overall achievement Coordinate the technical and procedural standards for test, repair and overhaul of engines Develops the departmental budgets and is accountable for financial results within budget allocations Set, monitor and report to the Director of Engineering the KPIs for the CIR engineering department as well for the Continuous Improvement Program; align department KPIs with goals & objectives on corporate and departmental level Ensure employees are aware of, and compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as appropriate aviation standards Communicate and work with other departments to streamline the engineerings efforts during shop visits Coordinate training of department employees to ensure multi-tasking is optimized to maintain a high level of technical proficiency, to ensure adherence to the Canadian Ministry of Transport Airworthiness Standards Operational responsibilities: Coordinate, coach, monitor, supervise and direct employees on a daily basis to achieve goals and targets in meeting internal and external customer expectations. Transfer OEM Maintenance instructions into internal work instructions Review work instructions based on OEM revisions and internal learnings and revise accordingly Configuration Control Liaise with engine manufacturers, powerplant engineering and customers to clarify technical data and drive if needed improvement Investigate causes of findings identified by any source including the audit program and take corrective action Develop and/or update technical orders for deviation handling including review and/or approval of technical documentation Provide technical support for testing, repairing and overhauling operations Set-up, review and maintain the Inspection Database.
