The Opportunity McElhanney is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to enhance our technical depth and build our team within the Geotechnical division. The successful candidate will be based in Edmonton, AB or willing to relocate. This role is safetysensitive. What Youll Be Doing Manage geotechnical investigations and reporting on transportation, municipal, land development and resource projects. Perform geotechnical analysis of stability, stress, deformation and foundation response using a suite of software platforms. Provide oversight, risk management and technical input to geotechnical projects and deliverables. Coordinate field projects, including prequalification, safety clearances and procurement of subcontractors. Prepare concise reports with relevant recommendations. Supervise field inspection of construction works. Prepare fee estimates and proposals for geotechnical assignments. Support other McElhanney divisions with geotechnical input (Municipal, Civil, Transportation, Environmental). Leadership Responsibilities Communicate efficiently via email, telephone and virtual meetings. Participate in business development and client management to grow the business. Manage project schedules and budgets efficiently. Provide oversight, guidance and mentoring of junior technical staff. Grow technical expertise to support current and future business. What Youll Bring University degree in Geotechnical/Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis. At least 5+ years progressive experience in relevant geotechnical fields. Experience with geotechnical engineering analysis, design and consulting. Seismic engineering and modeling (asset). Landbased piling analysis and design. Slope and geohazard assessments (asset). Computer modeling programs such as AutoCAD, RocScience, GeoStudio. Registration as an EIT or P.Eng. in Alberta and British Columbia or eligibility for registration. Strong technical, oral and written communication skills. Strong project management skills (budgeting, financial monitoring). Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams across locations. What Can We Offer You? Salary range: $79K - $110K per annum (based on experience and qualifications).
