Department of Surgery Trauma Services Saskatchewan Health Authority Location: Regina General Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a Trauma Surgeon to provide locum trauma call coverage at the Regina General Hospital, the provincial referral centre for trauma care in southern Saskatchewan. This locum opportunity is focused on weekly trauma call coverage, supporting the Regina Trauma Program through dedicated trauma service provision. The successful candidate will provide independent trauma call coverage, including initial resuscitation of major trauma patients, operative trauma care, and ongoing inpatient trauma management as required. This position is well suited to fellowship-trained Trauma or Acute Care Surgeons seeking predictable, block-based locum trauma work in a high-acuity tertiary care setting. Clinical Responsibilities - Provide trauma call coverage on a weekly basis at the Regina General Hospital, including weeks of trauma - Lead and participate in initial resuscitation with emergency room physicians for major trauma activations, and coordinate management of multisystem trauma patients admitted to the Trauma Service Provide advice for trauma referrals through System Flow Coordination Centre Collaborate closely with emergency medicine, anesthesia, critical care, nursing, and allied health teams Participate in trauma handover, documentation, and quality processes consistent with SHA policies Remuneration & Benefits Compensation Model: Trauma Call Rate - The day shift (10 hours) pays $1454.34 and the evening shift (14 hours) pays $2181.53 - 24 hr coverage $3,635.87 Benefits and professional expenses are the responsibility of the physician, unless otherwise specified Language of Work: English Qualifications / Requirements - Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in General Surgery (RCPSC) Candidates with fellowship training in Trauma and Acute Care surgery will be given preference - Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) Current ATLS certification required Demonstrated experience managing high-acuity trauma in a tertiary or academic trauma centre Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-based practice skills The Community Regina, Saskatchewan Regina is the capital city of Saskatchewan, offering a vibrant and welcoming community with a population exceeding 250,000.
