Job Description

Position Summary Join us as a Payroll Tax Analyst, Canada and play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations. You will help plan, organize, and monitor payroll activities, maintain systems and internal controls, and manage timetracking records while protecting confidential information. Using strong analytical skills, youll research and resolve payroll issues, gather data for audits and special projects, and drive process improvements that save time and reduce costs. Youll also support yearend reconciliations and retro processing, respond to employee inquiries with clarity and empathy, and act as a proactive liaison with HRSC to keep the team informed and trained on payroll initiatives. Responsibilities Accountable for assisting with planning, organizing, and monitoring of all aspects of the payroll function. Administrative duties involving the development and maintenance of payroll systems, internal controls and records and time tracking. Collecting data for general audits and special projects. Troubleshoot, research and provide recommendations to resolve payroll issues. Recommend ways to optimize the payroll process while reducing time expenditure and unnecessary costs. Respond to employee requests/inquiries pertaining to payroll matters. Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping confidential information. Support yearend processes including, but not limited to, processing necessary remittance reconciliation, earning and deduction code mappings and other reviews to troubleshoot and get ahead of any discrepancies. Assist with retro processing to ensure all necessary adjustments are properly recorded and paid. Serve as liaison with HRSC for training and questions. Provide updates to team on upcoming payroll items that may drive calls. Remotecapable and selfdirected: reliably available during core hours, meets deadlines, proactively communicates status/issues, maintains a secure homeoffice, and protects confidential payroll information. Basic Qualification Bilingual English/French nativelevel Quebec French required plus English. Advanced Excel (macros, VLOOKUP) and intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Strong analytical, problemsolving, attention to detail, and criticalthinking skills. Expert knowledge of Canadian payroll tax law and regulations across provinces. Working knowledge of accounting principles and reconciliations. Proven experience handling payroll transactions (acquisitions, global mobility, relocation, benefits, leave, equity, savings) and managing overpayments. Excellent written and verbal communication with crosscultural sensitivity; teamoriented. Exceptional time management: able to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure. High degree of confidentiality and sensitivity to compliance issues. Flexible to work occasional nonstandard hours as required. Strong working knowledge of CRA requirements and provincial tax rules. Preferred Qualification Canada Payroll Association PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner). CPA designation or inprogress; CPP or FPC preferred. Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field; HR diploma/degree asset. 35 years experience in Canadian payroll tax and/or tax payables. Workday certification and practical experience with Workday reports. Familiarity with financial processes and thirdparty vendor relationships. Salary In compliance with Ontario's provincial pay transparency legislation, this job posting includes a salary range to support equitable and informed hiring practices. The annual compensation for this role is CAD71,025 to CAD118,375, determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
