Position Mackenzies Fixed Income team oversees more than $50billion CAD in assets across a broad set of strategies, including sovereign bonds, credit, derivatives, and alternative fixed income. The team combines active management with systematic insights to deliver flexible solutions across global markets. We are currently hiring a Quantitative Developer Intern for the fall term from September to December to work in the Fixed Income Platform Engineering group, the technology side of the FI Engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the portfolio managers and quantitative analysts working to implement and execute key elements of our investment processes. Responsibilities Contribute to the design and implementation of analytics, research workflows, and decisionsupport tools for fixed income portfolio management Build and maintain software and infrastructure that power systematic research and data workflows Help monitor, troubleshoot, and improve live production processes, gaining exposure to realworld systems at scale Collaborate with teammates across the platform and portfolio engineering teams, as well as with researchers and portfolio managers across Fixed Income Participate actively in a modern software development environment, including version control, testing, and code review Requirements Proven academic performance in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Finance Active programming proficiency, with fluency in Python; experience with other languages like JavaScript/TypeScript, C++/Java, MATLAB, R, or Rust is an asset Handson experience working with large datasets, particularly within the Python ecosystem (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Polars), and working knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases Enthusiasm for applying modern development tools and best practices across the entire software application lifecycle Foundational understanding of financial markets, and a motivation to deepen knowledge of fixed income and quantitative finance Familiarity with statistics, econometrics, and related forecasting techniques Mindset oriented toward independent thinking, curiosity, and creative problemsolving High attention to detail and a consistent focus on producing accurate, highquality work Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to contribute in both remote and inperson collaborative environments We recognize that interns are at the beginning of their professional careers and may not yet meet every listed requirement.
