About UsPeaskie Minerals is a premier supplier of domestically sourced proppants and silica flour to the West Central Sedimentary Basin (WCSB).Our facility is located approximately 12 km north of Redwater or a 45-minute drive from north Edmonton.Please note we are accepting applicants from British Columbia to Ontario, and LOA will be provided dependent on your location. We are expecting this to be a 3-6 month contract.Position: Dredge OperatorTerms of Employment:Full-Time, Contract/TemporaryRate: $50.00-$60.00 / hour, overtime after 8 hours per day.Schedule: 5 on / 2 off, Days. 10-12 hours per day.We OfferCompetitive wagesLOA - dependent on locationOvertime after 8 hours per day AND for all hours worked if called in on a scheduled day offTravel allowance (dependent on location, and in accordance with company policy)Night shift premiumsHealth Care Spending AccountOpportunities for growth within the companyDuties & ResponsibilitiesOperate the Ellicott 370 dredge to extract sand and aggregate materialsMonitor dredging operations, including slurry flow, pump performance, and cutter head activityPerform manual labour, pipe bolts ups, pump setups and removal, setting anchor for the dredge, and operating/ removing the tender boat as neededConduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on dredge equipmentTroubleshoot mechanical and operational issues in real-timeMaintain accurate production and operational logsWork closely with site supervisors and maintenance teams to optimize outputEnsure compliance with all company safety policies and provincial regulationsPerform basic repairs and coordinate major maintenance as requiredMaintain housekeeping standards on and around the dredgeMust ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the companys Code of EthicsOther duties as assignedEducation & TrainingPossess a high school diploma or GEDClass 5 Drivers LicenseExperienceMinimum 35 years of dredge operation experienceExperience operating or familiarity with Ellicott dredges is considered a strong assetStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work long shifts in outdoor, remote, and physically demanding environmentsValid drivers license (Class 5 minimum; higher classes considered an asset)Knowledge of workplace safety standards and environmental regulationsStrong communication and teamwork skillsExperience in sand, gravel, or aggregate mining operationsHeavy equipment operation experienceFirst Aid and safety certifications (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS)Willingness to travel and work at various project sitesBoat experience required.Boat License is required.CompetenciesExcellent hand, eye, and foot coordinationSharp attention to detailExcellent sense of balanceDemonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and part of a teamHigh degree of personal initiative and ability to work with minimal supervisionAbility to multi-task and shift priorities as necessaryAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesAbility to communicate well with supervisors and staff, and to foster positive work relationshipsPhysical requirementsMust be able to sit for extended periods of timeMust be able to talk and hear audible sounds and voicesMust be able to frequently walk, use hands and fingers, handle objects, feel and reach with hands and arms.Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and on occasion up to 70 lbs.Ability to perform physically demanding work including repetitive crouching, bending, kneeling, and shoveling.Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.This is a safety sensitive position.
