As an Analyst Criminal Intelligence within our Criminal Intelligence Analysis Department, you will be responsible for extracting, collating, analyzing and disseminating crime/intelligence, callsforservice and public disorder information to assist tactical, intelligence and strategic initiatives in crime detection, prevention and solutions, as well as developing proactive, longterm interventions to suppress criminal activities in the Region of Peel. What will your typical day look like? Applies analytical techniques to crime/intelligence data or investigative projects in order to link individuals or groups to criminal activities, detect crime patterns, identify crime hot spots or targets, and develop interferences regarding the intentions and vulnerabilities of criminal groups so that tactical and strategic plans can be developed. Manages the analytical database or internal database programs of the assigned division/bureau in order to track individuals or groups involved in criminal activities and issues relating to criminal matters. Uses data mining techniques to retrieve and synthesize crime/intelligence data from internal or external databases to support police functions at the assigned division/bureau. Analyzes information obtained through street interviews or contacts, reports, court documents, wiretap projects, investigation, as well as receives and forwards information through regional information sharing networks and intelligence sharing initiatives. Generates proactive and reactive crime reports, via narrative, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, maps or matrices for dissemination to operational management uniform personnel, investigators, project teams and special tasks forces. Issues police information circulars and bulletins to facilitate offender apprehension, case clearances and officer safety. Liaises with outside agencies such as crime agencies, municipal/regional governments, community/neighbourhood groups, corporate institutions, crown attorneys, financial institutions, outside police agencies, detention/correctional centres, probation/parole and the intelligence community to collect, manage and disseminate relevant crime and intelligence information and to remain apprised of current trends and protocols. Performs additional duties as assigned. Enough about us, lets talk about you A University Degree in Criminology, Social Science or equivalent, plus additional courses/training in intelligence analysis process database management techniques and research methodology; Certification in Criminal Intelligences Analysis and Geographic Profiling Analysis preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience A minimum of three years related experience required, preferably in law enforcement Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function Demonstrated advanced knowledge of computer skills in mapping linkage analysis applications MS Access-advanced Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated analytical, research and problem solving skills Demonstrated written communication and report writing skills APPLICABLE TESTS: MS Access MS Excel MS Outlook MS Word MS Powerpoint Analytical Skills Assessment What we offer The hourly range for this temporary, fulltime position is $40.06 to $67.49 . Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($55.35$67.49) based on experience.
