The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Leader supports the efficient and effective operation of 6Link by assisting with the planning, organization, and directing of clinical care consistent with the philosophy, objectives, and vision of the IWK Health Centre. The Clinical Leader role models professional nursing practice, fosters the development of an environment in which the desired outcome of all activities is the enhancement of patient care while demonstrating strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. Responsibilities include: collaboration with all appropriate care team members; identifies and facilitates quality initiatives to improve care; acts as a liaison for 6Link with other care teams and departments within the Health Centre and with external community partners; supports the preceptorship of new staff; in collaboration with the Clinical Leader, Development, supports learning opportunities for staff; acts as a resource; in collaboration with the Manager, coordinates patient care assignments and workload for staff. Participates in the recruitment and selection of team members when required. Hours of Work Monday-Friday, 0800-1600 Your Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Nursing required (candidates with commensurate experience and education will be considered). Registered, or eligible to be registered, with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) is required. Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, is required. Minimum Five (5) years clinical experience in pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Nephrology nursing required. APHON Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Status required. Certification in peritoneal dialysis delivery required. Oncology and/or Nephrology certification or enrollment in certification process is an asset. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team is required. Demonstrated visionary regarding trends in pediatric care. Demonstrated expert critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities required. Demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills required. Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients/ families, colleagues, and community partners required. Demonstrated expert negotiation and conflict resolution skills required. Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional development required.
